Making Reports and Dashboards available within multiple Spokes

This article covers how Hub Users can distribute Self-Service Reports and Dashboards to one or more Spokes via Spoke Templates

Contents:

  1. Create a Spoke Template
  2. Login to the Spoke Template
  3. Create the Report or Dashboard
  4. Link the Spoke Template to the relevant Spoke(s)

1. Create a Spoke Template

To easily distribute Reports and Dashboards to Spokes, a Spoke Template must be available that is or can be linked to these Spokes.

For instructions on how to create a Spoke Template, see here.

Skip this step if a Spoke Template already exists that will be used instead.

2. Login to the Spoke Template

Access the Spoke Template that is or will be linked to the Spokes you wish to distribute the Report or Dashboard to.

For instructions on how to access a Spoke Template, see here.

3. Create the Report or Dashboard

Creating a Report or Dashboard within a Spoke Template will automatically make it available within any Spokes linked to the Template.

Refer to the below articles on how to create a Report or Dashboard:

Creating Reports or Dashboards in Spokes Templates has the limitation that no data exists within the Template to reference when building.

Alternatively, Reports can be built within a live Spoke and then transferred to the Spoke Template from the backend by 6clicks Reporting Team.

To do this, Create the Report or Dashboard in the Spoke, and then raise a Support Ticket to have this transferred to the Template. Please indicate the name of the Report(s)/Dashboard(s), Spoke and Spoke Template for the transfer.

4. Link the Spoke Template to the Relevant Spokes

The final step is to link these Spokes to the Spoke Template where the Reports and Dashboards exist. This will automatically connect these Spokes to the Spokes Template reporting folders, providing access to the Reports/Dashboards.

For instructions on how to link a Spoke to a Spoke Template, see here.

Any new Spokes created using the Spoke Template will also have access automatically applied.

Linking Spokes to Spoke Templates will also transfer any configuration and content in the Spoke Template to the Spoke.

Should this not be desired, 6clicks recommends creating a fresh Spoke Template with no content or configuration.

Once the Spoke has been linked to the Spoke Template, you will be able to access the Template's reporting folders (and any Reports/Dashboards within these) from within the Spoke.
